At Precise Pickleball Courts, we bring over ten years of experience in the court surfacing and repair industry. Throughout our time in business, we’ve mastered our construction process.
Building a high-quality court is more than just laying down a surface. It requires careful planning, preparation, and professional installation. Whether you’re building a new basketball or pickleball court or resurfacing an existing one, the construction process is a major part of how your court performs, looks, and holds up.
Our team follows a detail-focused approach to ensure that every court is built for durability, safety, and long-term performance. Below is a breakdown of what goes into building a high-quality court, so you know exactly what to expect.
1. Initial Consultation & Site Planning
Our process starts with a meeting at the site of your future court to discuss your vision and goals with the space available. Regardless of whether you want a pickleball, basketball, or tennis court, we’re here to help you determine the best location and layout for your property. Once the design and layout are finalized, we will move on to staking out the court location and prepare for the next steps.
2. Site Preparation
Site preparation, when done correctly, is key to making your court last. Our team performs all the necessary excavation and grading needed to create a stable foundation for your court. It’s during this step that we excavate and level the site of your court, install road base for proper support, place vapor barriers when required, and prepare drainage solutions when needed as well.
3. Infrastructure Installation
Before our team moves on to pouring concrete, we install any components that you choose to support your court, including:
- Pickleball net sleeves
- Basketball hoop footings
- Fence posts and sleeves
- Court lighting infrastructure
Or any additional custom features that the homeowner is interested in, including fencing and lighting either inside or outside of the slab, depending on the project design.
4. Concrete Installation
After all infrastructure has been installed, our team forms the court and pours the concrete. We offer two different options for concrete slabs. Post-tension slabs, which are most commonly used for premium pickleball courts, and reinforced concrete slabs with rebar systems. There’s no need to worry about which one you’ll want to choose for your court. We’ll help you determine which option is best based on your goals, site conditions, and budget.
5. Concrete Curing
Once the concrete is poured, the slab requires approximately 28 to 30 days to cure before the court surface can be installed. However, during this period, our team will continue working on other aspects of your court. For example, fence installation, court lighting, basketball systems, and other accessories and amenities. This helps to keep the project moving along efficiently.
6. Court Surfacing
Once the concrete slab is fully cured, it’s time to install the court surface and all the appropriate game lines. It’s at this point that we apply the acrylic sport surfacing systems, customizing them with whatever color selections were chosen. Then we apply the appropriate lines depending on whether we’re installing a pickleball, basketball, tennis, or multi-court. After the surfacing and lines are installed, our team performs our final quality inspections to ensure that nothing is missed.
7. Project Completion
Once surfacing and accessories are installed, your court is ready to be played on!
From excavation to final surfacing, you can expect the project to be completed in approximately six to eight weeks. The majority of that timeline is dedicated to our team ensuring the concrete slab properly cures.
